A leading Top 20 Accountancy practice is looking to recruit a Client Manager (Accountancy) to join the team at the firm’s Newbury office. The role would suit someone who is qualified ACCA or ACA with at least three years’ PQE, with experience of working at manager level within a busy accountancy practice environment.

The firm is working on a hybrid working model with three days in the office and two days working from home and the successful candidate will receive an excellent benefits package.

The primary function of the role will be to assist the Directors in managing their portfolio of company, partnership and sole trader clients through supervising team members and reviewing work produced.

As Client Manager (Accountancy) your responsibilities will include:

Reviewing accounts for limited companies (non audit), partnerships and sole traders

  • Review of personal and partnership tax computations
  • Liaising and meeting with clients where appropriate to clear queries and discuss accounts and tax position
  • Support the Directors with managing their portfolios, including client onboarding and billing
  • Assist, mentor and review work of trainees and junior team members
  • Assisting clients and employees with VAT queries and any general queries they may have
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of standards and legislation and helping to keep the team informed of any changes
  • Maintain client relationships and support with any ad hoc queries
  • Involvement in the recruitment and onboarding of new team members
  • Involvement in the annual appraisal process of accounts team members
  • Overseeing the general running of the accounts department with other client managers
  • Nurturing and mentoring team members

Have at least three years post qualified experience - exceptional qualified by experience applicants will be considered

  • Previous experience working in a practice environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent understanding of accounting standards, VAT rules, legislation and basic personal tax knowledge
  • Technical accounts and corporation tax knowledge
  • Commercially aware and analytical approach
  • Proactive and enthusiastic to improve services and share knowledge
  • Use initiative and problem solve
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidence to build rapport and manage a professional relationship with clients
  • Highly organised, proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience of managing a team
