Role: Chef Instructor
Location: East Sussex
Type: Temporary - Part Time
Rate: £25 - £30 per hour.

Eden Brown Education are looking for a chef instructor on a full time basis with a college in Hastings.

This is a part time temporary role to start asap for sickness cover for 3 -4 weeks. This is for 22.5 hours per week.

We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic Chef Instructor for Coast Restaurant, our onsite college restaurant, which provides a realistic working environment for our hospitality and catering students, as well as being a commercial restaurant. This is a learning environment, as you will play an important role in ensuring that students' knowledge and practical skills reflect the commercial industry. You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to ensure that students are assessed against industry standards.

You will be a qualified chef and enjoy working in a busy kitchen and working with young people supporting their achievement in education.

Overview of role
-To assist in the design and development of restaurant menus in line with curriculum taught skills
-To assist in the development of students offering valuable work experience within Coast Restaurant
-Direct students as required to ensure all operational tasks are completed safely and efficiently
-To provide constructive and developmental feedback to students, to improve their employability skills.
-To conduct daily menu briefings with the students.
-To be proactive with food orders, conducting effective stock management, ensuring cost effectiveness, and minimising food waste.
-Receive and monitor goods in, follow the Stock Labelling and Rotation System to ensure products are identifiable and used in the correct order
-To comply with all set Departmental and Company policies.
-To be aware of, comply with and manage statutory requirements for health & safety, hygiene, fire prevention and employment law, etc.
-Opening and closing procedures for the Kitchen, using the Safer Food Better Business file to effectively record and track issues
-To attend weekly meetings with the Hospitality and Catering Area, actively engaging in the wider curriculum and college.
-To offer flexible in working patterns in line with business need.
-A willingness to carry out CPD to assist in the development of the students.
-Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.
