Category Manager
£40,000 - £45,000 per annum

Are you an experienced and self-driven Category Manager seeking a role that makes a real impact on business performance? Join our esteemed partner in the heart of the railway industry! We are currently recruiting a Category Manager to contribute to the success of various improvement projects across the business.

Main Duties:
- Develop tactical procurement strategies for projects, leading sourcing and implementation in line with policies.
- Lead sourcing activities, identifying the right suppliers and delivery partners in line with Procurement Policy (PCR) and Utilities Contract Regulations 2016 (UCR).
- Create contractual agreements ensuring fitness for purpose and commercial viability.
- Advise and support stakeholders on best practices for obtaining value for money and highest quality.
- Manage and approve POs for audit trails and compliance.
- Hold suppliers accountable through clear and robust contract management.
- Support the delivery of Procurement KPIs throughout the National Rail Contract.
- Proactively collaborate on group procurement sourcing strategies for optimal value.
- Manage and govern the contracts database, ensuring validity and resolving breaches.
- Support continuous improvement of sustainable procurement (ISO20400).
- Lead stakeholder meetings, ensuring policy compliance and governance.
- Communicate UK laws and industry standards regarding purchasing and contract activities.
- Ensure financially checked suppliers to minimise risk and exposure.

Skills and Experience Needed:
- CIPS qualified or looks to complete in the future
- Experience dealing within PCR and UCR
- Previous work experience within a public sector organisation
- Significant experience in contractual agreements and terms development.
- Ability to work under time constraints without compromising quality.
- Strong analytical skills to analyse complex spend data.
- Proficient in ICT systems, including e-procurement systems and Microsoft suite.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- High commercial acumen with organisational and documentation skills.
- Flexible attitude and willingness to embrace new challenges.
