Aon is currently recruiting an experienced Catastrophe Risk Analyst to join our UK & Ireland team in London.

What the day will look like

As an experienced Risk Analyst, some of your main responsibilities will include:

·       Working with Aon’s client teams and brokers to deliver catastrophe modelling and analytical support to our clients and the reinsurance market.

·       Provide technical solutions in a digestible manner to both internal and external stakeholders at client meetings, presentations, market studies, tenders, and reports.

·       Running natural catastrophe models through Aon’s suite of analytic tools to quantify the likelihood and severity of natural catastrophes for client renewals and UK & Ireland project work.

·       Collaborating with academic and industry partners to validate and create innovative solutions for the (re)insurance market.

·       Knowledge sharing of market and model experience with the UK & Ireland wider team.

·       Liaising and collaborating with other teams and offices worldwide on global solutions.

·       Working closely with the model evaluation team to revise and challenge existing catastrophe models to deliver client views of risk that is more relevant to their business.

·       Contribution to the development of new Impact Forecasting models (e.g. unmodelled UK perils), and client bespoke models.

·       Working on prospective RFPs.

·       Mentoring less experienced analysts in the team.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

·       Strong catastrophe modelling experience

·       Working knowledge of vendor cat models (RMS and AIR).

·       Understanding of the science of natural catastrophes and ability to validate and interpret the modelled loss estimates.

·       Strong technical problem-solving skills.

·       Good communication skills

·       Strong project management, with capability to work in a team, independently, working under pressure, multi-task and ability to prioritise work effectively.

·       Skilled with multi-relational database management systems and coding (SQL, R)

·       Dashboard Analytics and GIS experience also of major benefit (e.g., Tableau, ArcGIS)

·       Knowledge of (re)insurance terms and business
