Here at South Thames Colleges Group, we have two exciting opportunities for Careers Advisers to join us!

The Careers Advisers Team are based in the Student Support Centre and work alongside Student Services colleagues to provide a holistic, one stop shop package of support and enrichment to enable students to achieve their full potential.

The Careers Adviser will provide effective impartial advice and guidance regarding future study and career choices at both sites across the College to all internal clients. You will deliver services through drop-in, appointments and the Tutorial support programme. Of paramount importance for internal clients will be advising students at all levels regarding their progression opportunities which could include Higher Education, Apprenticeships, employment, and courses within or outside of the South Thames Colleges Group. To support this and other functions, online resources will be produced by the service to promote provision and inform clients of their options. You will also be involved in key Open and Curriculum Events, to provide effective advice and guidance.

We’re looking for someone who has proven experience as a qualified Careers Adviser, providing advice and guidance to individuals and groups of all age ranges. Your qualification will be at Level 6 as a minimum and be QCG/D or PGDip in Careers Guidance. You’ll be a good team member, able to liaise with Curriculum and be able to provide assistance with the work of others when required. It goes without saying that you’ll need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be competent in the use of IT to produce an online Careers platform, effectively marketing and recording all service provision.

Experience of working with a diverse range of students, in particular students with learning disabilities and/or difficulties is desirable, as is a working knowledge of the UCAS application process and delivering guidance to Higher Education students.

Please note that this post is funded for the 2024/25 academic year so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2024.

Subject to a cost of living review from 1 August, the successful candidate will be eligible for any subsequent increase in salary.
