Capital Leasing Accountant

Salary: £360 - £470 per day

Contract: Minimum 6 Months with a view to being extended

Work Schedule: Full time, Monday – Friday.

Remote working with Hybrid options available.

Spencer Clarke Group is working with a local authority in the South West in the recruitment to aid in the recruitment of a Finance Business Partner.

Role Brief: The Client are looking to recruit a Capital/Leasing Accountant to support the Council with its implementation of IFRS16 Leases. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of lease accounting, preferably with experience of the IFRS16 requirements.

What we’re looking for:

-          The successfully candidate will be required to adapt the Council existing Lease Register to ensure compliance with IFRS16 and support the Chief Accountant with the first-time adoption disclosure requirements for the Council’s 23/24 statutory accounts.

-          The successful candidate will also help to support the budget realignment required on lease rental payments, so experience of communicating with finance and non-finance colleagues is also essential. Previous experience of working in a Local Government finance team would be preferable, given the specific accounting rules within the sector, but is not essential.
