Our client is a leading Mechanical & Electrical design and fitout contractor based in East London. They cover design, installation and commissioning services across all sectors and have established themselves as a go to contractor in this space.

Due to a large forward order book for the coming year, they are seeking to add an M&E Buyer to their procurement team. The M&E Buyer will play a pivotal role in the procurement process, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services essential for projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of the M&E sector.

Buyer - Mechanical and Electrical

Key Responsibilities:

• Source, select, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and favourable terms for materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to identify project-specific procurement requirements and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to job sites.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities, reliability, and performance to maintain a network of trusted partners.
• Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to foster collaboration, resolve issues, and optimise supply chain efficiency.
• Monitor vendor performance and conduct periodic performance reviews to assess quality, delivery, and adherence to contractual agreements.
• Manage inventory levels to meet project demands while minimising excess inventory and carrying costs.
• Coordinate logistics and transportation to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to project sites.
• Track and report on inventory metrics, including turnover rates, stock levels, and procurement lead times.
• Analyse costs, pricing trends, and market dynamics to identify opportunities for cost savings and value optimisation.
• Develop and implement cost reduction strategies without compromising quality or project timelines.
• Monitor project budgets and expenditures related to procurement activities and provide regular updates to management.
• Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and vendor communications.
• Participate in audits and inspections to verify compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Role Requirements:

• Experience in a procurement role in the construction industry, ideally in the M&E sector.
• Experience procuring materials relative to M&E installs
• Ability to commute to the offices in East London
• Capable of forging and maintaining lasting relationships with suppliers
• High attention to detail and strong work ethic
