Semi Skilled Bench Joiner

Required on a permanent basis to start as soon as possible.

£14.60 PER HOUR

Monday to Friday 08:00-16:30

Overtime available paid at time and a half.

Job purpose

Reporting to the assembly area team leader, the role is to execute the assembly of finished timber based product as per specifications and to the required level of quality. Attention to detail and accuracy is key in this role as well as speed of execution. Some degree of basic hand machining will be involved in the allocated tasks. 

Key responsibilities & requirements 

  • Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D CAD drawings in order to fully comprehend the specification and client requirement. 
  • Ability to read and understand all supportive manufacturing documents such as cutting lists or factory orders documentation. 
  • Any assembly work will be communicated by the assembly team leader in order to detail and advise on the manufacturing approach and highlight and critical details.
  • Report back to the team leader if any issues are identified during the assembly process.
  • Components required for the assembly process will be fully machined prior to being allocated to bench joiner.
  • Ability to use some hand tools such as hand trimmers as well as manual tools such as chisels,
  • Knowledge and ability to work with any material such as MFC, MFMDF, as well as understanding of sprayed elements, veneered elements or solid wood.
  • Ensure that quality is maintained throughout the assembly process in line with the expectations.
  • Ensure that appropriate personal protection equiptment is worn at all time.

General duties  

  • Based on the shop-floor planning and workload, additional duties and support might be needed in other areas of the business. 
  • Ensure factory housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained at all times including PPE.
  • Ensure environmental standards are maintained at all times.
  • Assist with other business manufacturing processes whenever required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience within the woodwork industry.
  • Possess own joinery tools.
  • Knowledge of basic joinery assembly practices is necessary.
  • Understanding of timber material specification is necessary.
  • Previous experience in working in a factory environment would be an advantage.
