Job Advertisement: Internal Audit Specialist

Location: York

We are looking for a dedicated Internal Audit Specialist to join our audit team, primarily focusing on the education sector. This role is based in York and will involve travel across the North-East and Yorkshire.

Role Overview:

You will work under the guidance of a manager and collaborate closely with our internal audit team to provide comprehensive audit and assurance services to a diverse client base. Your contributions will be pivotal in supporting both our audit and accounts teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and initiate audit assignments, preparing necessary documentation and liaising with clients.
• Compile detailed audit reports.
• Respond to ad hoc client queries and serve as a primary contact.
• Assist in statutory audits and accounts preparation as needed.
• Provide training and support to team members, and recommend improvements to our processes.
• Frequent travel to client sites in the North-East and Yorkshire.

Requirements:

Essential:

• AAT Level 4 qualification.
• Proven experience in a similar role within a general practice environment.
• Experience in conducting or leading audits.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency in IT, particularly Excel.
• Must be able to travel to client locations as needed.

Desirable:

• Internal audit qualification from the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage, IRIS, Access, and Xero.
• Experience or knowledge of the education sector.
