As an Associate Specialist in Psychiatry, you will conduct clinical assessments, review treatment plans, and evaluate patient progress within our facility. Your primary focus will encompass physical health, nutrition, fluid intake, and risk management across our wards. Working closely with the ward manager, consultants, and our Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT), you'll ensure patients receive personalised care tailored to their needs.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting thorough clinical assessments, formulating effective treatment plans, and ensuring their implementation.
  • Facilitating seamless handovers to colleagues, including providing out-of-hours coverage when required.
  • Gathering collateral history from various professionals and family members to inform treatment decisions.
  • Generating timely discharge letters, reports, and necessary forms.
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports for First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings under supervision.
  • Contributing to service development by actively participating in Clinical Governance activities, such as audits, research, and teaching.
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues to maintain continuous medical coverage for patients.
  • Providing cover for other specialty doctors during their absence and participating in the on-call rota.

Requirements:

  • Full GMC registration.
  • Previous experience in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Recent appraisal/RITA within the last year.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Psychiatry.
  • Previous work in a similar clinical environment.
  • MRCPsych (desirable).
  • Section 12 (2) approval (desirable).
  • AC status (desirable).
  • Minimum of 4 years in registrar or staff grade, specialty doctor grade, or clinical/senior clinical medical officer grades.
  • A minimum of 10 years of medical work experience since obtaining primary medical qualification, with substantial and relevant clinical experience.
