Company Overview

Our client is a well established international real estate and infrastructure consultancy with offices in the North East and other key UK cities, who work with a variety of high calibre and long-standing clients across the public and private sector.

Their team in the North East is undergoing a period of growth due to increased client demand, as a result they have the opportunity for an Associate Director to join their innovative and dynamic Cost Management team, working on industry-leading projects.

The sectors they work in are varied, with training to be provided however there is a current need for an ambitious individual to work on defence and healthcare projects across the region. Current schemes range from £75m defence projects and £45m healthcare developments.

The Role

They are looking for an Associate Director to lead on some of the most exciting projects in the region across the public and private sectors. There is a great opportunity to work with a number of their leading clients, along with a strong project pipeline of work providing both job security and sustained career progression.

They are keen to support those looking to grow both personally and professionally, and provide the opportunity to lead and grow a key division of their business.

Key accountabilities:
  • Assisting on feasibility studies and writing procurement reports
  • Estimating and cost planning to include producing and presenting the final cost plan
  • Tendering and procuring, including managing the pre-qualification stage
  • Dealing effectively with post contract cost variances and the change control processes
  • Taking personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects and in all cases ensuring that timely and accurate cost checking and valuation takes place
  • Producing monthly post contract cost reports and presenting them to the client
  • Inputting into value engineering
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
  • Interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
  • Leading a section of the cost management team, ensuring that they deliver on all of the above accountabilities.
  • Helping grow the business


Experience and skills:
  • A proven track record of delivering high quality cost management/quantity surveying services across the full project lifecycle across any sector (sector specific training to be provided)
  • Professionally qualified (RICS or similar)
  • Degree or HNC level qualification
  • Contract Management experience (NEC3, Option C preferred)
  • Experience of working on major programmes and projects
  • Ability to successfully manage and prioritise more than one project at a time
  • Leadership
