Context

Childhood First enables children and young people to recover from early life abuse and relational trauma, to enjoy life and to achieve their potential. We do this through the provision of specialist therapeutic residential care and treatment, together with family and network support. We are also a UKCP Training Organisational Member accredited with Middlesex University, providing in-house clinical training to its clinical staff. Gables House is a specialist residential children’s home providing a programme of care, treatment and education for up to 8 children aged between 11 to 16 years.

Purpose

As the Assistant Director - Placement and Family Support, you will be a key member of the therapeutic community’s senior leadership team, leading on the management of the Placement and Family Support services. This includes engaging with the external professional and family network to support the child/young person’s therapeutic placement.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • The ability to provide effective leadership of a team within a social care / work therapeutic environment which includes which manages significant and complex risk profiles of children and young people.
  • Excellent persuading, communicating and interpersonal skills to gain commitment, confidence and compliance with all key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection as well as children’s Care Standards and Regulations.
  • A sense of personal resilience and psychological awareness, and the ability to form open and constructive relationships including a willingness to consider self in relationship with others and in terms of impact on the work.

Task

  • Co-ordinate children and families contact arrangements.
  • Lead multidisciplinary assessments ensuring clinical pathway plans are in place for all children.
  • Ensure all children have effective therapeutic placement, treatment programmes, education, contact and care plans in place and that these are delivered to the agreed standards.
  • Ensure children’s transition processes and plans are based on a robust clinical assessment based on their needs and any required interventions are in place.
