RSR Housing are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in Bath for an Assertive Outreach Worker.

The purpose of this role is to deliver a high-quality person-centered outreach service, working as part of a team, contacting new, repeat and entrenched rough sleepers in Bath, implementing a locally agreed approach to No Second Night Out.

This a permanent role which offers 37.5 hours until September 2024 which will then reduce to 30 hours, (possibility of extension).

The annual salary is £24,500, adjusting to £19,600 after September 2024 to reflect the reduced hours.

Main Duties:

  • Undertake assertive outreach and hot spot visits across the locality area including during unsocial hours, maintaining a regular street presence.
  • Identify, engage and assertively work with people sleeping rough within the locality areas.
  • Work closely with substance misuse services, mental health services, Probation, and HMP Eastwood Park to help prevent people being released from prison homeless.
  • Work in close partnership with the local authorities, police, probation, emergency accommodation providers and wider partner agencies to maximise positive outcomes for Clients.
  • Work closely with the MEAM Co-ordinator to ensure that rough sleepers with multiple needs are supported through the MEAM approach.
  • Carry out risk assessments and complete Housing Benefit forms for rough sleepers moving into designated accommodation services.
  • Recognise indications of substance misuse, mental health needs, personality disorder behavioural issues and make appropriate referrals to relevant agencies.

Essential Requirements:

  • Have full driving license, with business insurance and access to own car.
  • Outreach/community-based work, or previous work with homeless and/or other socially excluded people.
  • Essential Working with people with complex needs who may be difficult to engage.
  • Working with dual diagnosis clients.
  • Assessment of needs and case management.
  • Working without direct supervision.
  • Working with people who are or have been street homeless.

Role is subject to DBS check at the relevant level.
