Role Description: Teacher of Drama and Performing Arts
Salary: £30,619.63-£47,330.98 (pro rata)
Full Time and Permanent 

Job Purpose
To contribute to the achievement of the Mission and strategic objectives of the College by:
Ensuring effective learning and teaching that meets the needs of individuals and assists in the achievement of the learner’s full potential.

Accountability
Accountable to the Learning Area Manager for their teaching area
Duties/Responsibilities

Statutory
·        Read and adhere to the current EWC Code of Conduct
·        Act within, the statutory frameworks, which set out their professional duties and responsibilities and in line with the duties outlined in the current Sixth Form Colleges Pay and Conditions Document

Curriculum
·        Demonstrate a sound and up-to-date knowledge of the relevant specifications in your curriculum area
·        Develop and refine teaching materials, including schemes of work and learning materials. 
·        Plan, prepare and deliver high quality lessons that seek to ensure that the interest and engagement of all learners is achieved and maintained.
·        Develop a range of approaches to learning and teaching which are appropriate to the learners’ needs and which encourage learners to become more independent in their learning.
·        Provide high quality learning and teaching experiences through the use of e-learning.
·        Establish positive relationships with learners which promote the achievement of learning.
·        Record and monitor learners’ attendance.

·        Undertake a range of approaches to assessment and ensure that formative assessment is central to assessment practice.

·        Regularly assess learner achievement and attainment in the light of previous achievement and attainment with a view to enhancing the value added of each learner.

·        Monitor and report on learners’ progress and achievement.

·        Address issues of learner underperformance, working in conjunction with pastoral staff.

·        Attend parents’ consultations and briefings, as required.

·        Attend all relevant staff, course and curriculum area meetings, as reasonably required.

Safeguarding
·        Demonstrate a commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children.

Professional Development
·        Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and contribute to quality assurance processes, receiving guidance from your line manager. 

·        Participate in induction programmes for new staff and other staff development opportunities, as required.

·        Participate in the performance management process operating within the College.

Other
·        To have professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the College and maintain high standards in your own attendance and punctuality
·        Perform any reasonable duties as requested by the Principal, Senior Leadership Team and Learning Area Manager
You may from time to time be required to undertake other reasonable duties. The job description and allocation of responsibilities may be amended by agreement from time to time.
