This training course (consisting of four modules) has been developed by SGS to provide practitioners with the with the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake a verification of a greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory developed in accordance with ISO 14064-1:2019 using the verification standard ISO 14064-3:2019.

Description

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Define the GHG effect, climate change, and identify its key drivers.
  • Summarise the current state of climate science and international policy.
  • Recognise current international efforts to combat climate change.
  • Understand drivers for GHG accounting and reporting.
  • Identify major GHG accounting standards and protocols.
  • Define GHG accounting and reporting principles and develop accounting boundaries.
  • Categorise GHG emissions as Scope 1, Scope 2 or Scope 3.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for:

  • Greenhouse Gas emissions and Climate Change practitioners.
  • Those intending to undertake the verification and validation of GHG Statements.
  • Those intending to become GHG Statement Lead Verifiers.

Requirements

To successfully complete the course, delegates must pass a course examination with a mark of at least 60%. The examination is an open book multiple choice test lasting 1 hour. Delegates will be provided with 30 minutes to revise prior to the examination, however they may wish to spend further time preparing for the examination in their own time.
