Introduction to Cocktails

The Cocktail course has been designed so that bar staff can perfect the art of mixing cocktails. This course will educate students about the history of the cocktail, equipment used to mix and serve cocktails, techniques and how to create a wide selection of classic non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks.

Staff will have the confidence to not only mix but serve high quality cocktails to customers using the skills that they have learned and the knowledge they have gained.

Ideal for existing bar staff or new members of the team, this course is suitable for the complete beginner or the experienced team member looking to acquire additional skills in cocktail making.

Introduction to Wine

As wine is now one of the most popular alcoholic drinks, demand has risen for professionals who serve wine properly. Understanding correct serving practices and a knowledge of wine is important if you want to deliver excellent customer service. The course will provide you with the skills to serve wine properly, show you how to taste wine and teach what wines compliment specific foods.

Introduction to Coffee

As the demand for coffee shops grow, so too has the need for well trained and skilled professionals who can serve coffee properly. Customers don’t just want a regular coffee; terms such as Latte, Caramel Macchiato and Americano are commonplace in coffee shops, restaurants and hotels throughout the UK.

This introductory course will provide you with the necessary skills to carry out your work as a barista or any other profession in the hospitality industry and your role involves making and serving coffee to customers. Through studying this course, you will learn about the different types of coffee, how it is produced and packaged and the different techniques used to produce a variety of coffees.

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
