What we do

WE ARE KASHMIR ORPHAN RELIEF TRUST - KORT

KORT is a UK and AJK based non-profit organisation, raising orphan children at our purpose-built orphanages in Akhtarabad, Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, and Alamabad, Swabi, KPK, Pakistan.

Our inception was a deadly Earthquake that struck the region of Azad Kashmir on the 8th of October 2005 in which over 80,000 people lost their lives and thousands more were injured and displaced.

Seeing the heart broken condition of the orphan children who had lost their parents in the Earthquake, our chairman; Ch. Mohammed Akhtar (Tl) made a commitment to serve orphan children just like we care for our own children at home.

KORT is now home to hundreds of orphan children who are provided fresh meals, safe and secure accommodation, casual clothing and uniforms, medical care, and quality education at our two orphans’ homes.

With a large portion of the population in AJK and Pakistan living below the poverty line, KORT also assists the needy and vulnerable by providing emergency aid to people affected by natural disasters, supporting disabled people by providing wheelchairs and building wheelchair accessible washrooms, empowering widows and poor women by providing sewing machines and stitching classes, providing clean drinking water to communities by installing water filtration plants, and building schools in deprived areas.

We are also building a Burn Centre in Kotli, AJK, due to a lack of such specialist facilities, and a much-needed hospital in Mirpur, AJK, which will provide free quality healthcare for all.
