Edge Hotel School offer the first courses in the UK where students ‘learn by doing' as the basis of their degree qualification whilst also developing the all important people skills essential for career success. This is a fast-track degree programme, taking just two years to complete. As part of well organised teams learning takes place in a real hotel, by serving real guests in real time. With a restaurant, brasserie and bar, forty bedrooms plus corporate and family events to manage, student practitioners are inspired and motivated to succeed. There are a handpicked team of academic and industry professionals to nurture and guide the Student Practitioners. Some of the best hotel and hospitality companies are Edge Hotel School Patrons, Sponsors and Friends and they will be sharing their master skills and business experiences with our students.
Why study this subject?
The Edge Hotel School prepares a Student Practitioner for the hospitality working world in a busy, fast paced and fun environment. The graduates of these programmes will have had the opportunity to develop into self confident individuals with enhanced professional skills, who respect diversity and understand cultural differences and are able to take a holistic view of the industry and hospitality related operations. These graduates will be highly sought after by industry as they will have become professional practitioners in their specialist field and have demonstrated that they can make a real difference to any business situation.
The international hospitality and tourism industry is forecasting continued growth despite the global recession. Many new destinations continue to emerge alongside the traditional ones. These high-quality developments require high-quality well-trained professional management staff to be able to satisfy the increasingly sophisticated consumer needs. The State of the Nation Report 2011 indicates that 638,000 additional staff are needed in the UK hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries by 2017, and 34% of employers believe that applicants lack the required management skills. This indicates great potential for individuals who are enthusiastic about obtaining a qualification and following a career in the sector.
