You will be fundamentally responsible supporting all HomeServe users with all Windows servers and related components. This includes designing, installing, configuring, administering, and fine-tuning Windows operating systems and components across the organization in a timely and efficient manner.
Role Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure hardware and infrastructure software / application problems, including end user desktop PCs, enterprise data servers and enterprise storage.
- Ensure that Windows-based workstations and servers comply with established policies, standards, and configuration guidelines, creating and improving policies / standards if required.
- Work with the Application Team(s)/DBA’s to define and implement both system and data backups in line with the Business requirements. Performing system / ad-hoc file recovery procedures where required.
- Develop and maintain Windows training materials and systems documentation for educating end users and new IT staff.
- Participate in team meetings and attend HomeServe IS meetings as required.
- Escalate problems as necessary using the agreed escalation process for your site.
- Use the service desk system and change system to schedule work and ensure customer communication.
- Participate in an out of hours support rota.
Candidate Requirements
- You will have previous extensive exposure to a 24-7 demanding environment. This should include implementing, supporting, fine tuning and managing wintel environments.
- You will have experience of installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows 2003, Windows 2008 servers, and related Windows networks.
- You will have working technical knowledge of Microsoft IIS, Microsoft ISA, Microsoft SQL and be experienced with supporting and proactively managing Microsoft Exchange. You should also have extensive application support experience with Citrix / Terminal Servers, managing large Citrix farms, BES, AD, clustering technologies, SCCM, VPN, SAN Management, back up and Disaster Recovery.
- You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, be results focussed and have excellent problem solving and analysis skills.
