MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Responsibilities:
Interface Artwork - Given direction, the artist must be able to bring a concept to life. The attributes that define this must then be carried through to a GUI.
Creation of interface controls - Working in the Microsoft Expression suite, the artist must carry their designs through to the actual interface with the use of XAML and the XAML creation environment, Expression Blend.,
Work interactively with R&D - the candidate will need to work closely with developers as well as other members of the UX team to ensure the interfaces are built properly and the experience the user has is the right one.
User centric - when making design decisions, the artist will need to keep an eye towards the user and what their design decisions may mean to them and the experience they have.
Other key responsibilities
Stay up on latest design trends - the artist should remain aware and up to date on what is going on in the art world. New tools and techniques, latest styles and popular trends etc.
Be aware of technology advances - new tech changes in the dental and IT world could mean changes in how we deliver our solutions. Touch screen and gesture based input have impacts on how we design our interfaces.
Ability to render interface elements - Working with direction from an Interaction Designer, the artist must be able to produce interface artwork of the highest quality that embodies the spirit of the project.
Problem solving - the artist will be required to develop new techniques that efficiently render the desired look and feel while working within the constraints of an interaction framework. The Visual Designer will need to solve implementation problems using proven design patterns and innovative solutions.
Quality - the program is the pinnacle of the software organisations efforts. As such, the role demands someone that is uncompromising in the quality of artwork they produce.
Communication - the ability to communicate with product analysts as well as interaction designers and development is key.
Time management - Ability to multitask and produce art for multiple projects.
Creatively technical - The ideal candidate will be able to straddle the fence between the art world and the development world.
Organisation - as a regulated business in many countries, all project information and artefacts must be well managed and available. Using the Development Framework, the Visual Designer must ensure that their deliverables are well managed.
