P and S are currently recruiting for a VAT Specialist for our client based in Norwich.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To provide an efficient consultancy service to clients, directly or through working with portfolio holders and partners, on VAT issues and maintaining a technical information base offering support to staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide guidance and support to portfolio holders and partner to ensure appropriate compliance on VAT in their client dealings, through discussion, advice and review of computations.
To provide consultancy advice on VAT planning for clients.
To add value and use innovation where possible, whether directly or indirectly, for example through streamlining procedures, cross selling, delivering a continually higher quality of client service
To research and maintain technical information for use in advising staff on client affairs, as well as to contribute to technical intelligence, briefings and technical training, delivered internally.
To achieve and exceed individual agreed objectives as part of successfully delivering the groups operational plan.
Reporting to Director of VAT Services, then VAT Partner.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ACA/ACCA qualified but not essential
Ideally experienced in VAT via exposure on corporate client affairs, or from HMRC office
Skills in advising clients and staff
Skills in interpreting information and providing commercial solutions
Skills in thinking creatively to solve problems
Adaptable - able to work to deadlines and balance a number of priorities
This role will be working with the Director of VAT.
The ideal candidate will need to have a strong understanding of VAT and a background/knowledge of Tax.
They will also be involved in researching and training employees across the firm on any technical updates etc throughout the year. These are normally done in a form of a presentation in front of groups of 10 up to 50 people. They will have exposure to working with the Partners of the Firm on a day to day basis as well.
Qualifications which would be ideal but not essential are: AiiT or CIOT/CTA or if they are ACA/ACCA part or fully qualified.
