Organisation Description
My client is one of the biggest insurance names in the South West market and is currently looking to recruit an Underwriter for a temporary vacancy.
This opportunity would suit an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join the Underwriting team at the Wales Service Centre on a part-time basis, working 17.5 hours a week.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Underwriting Team providing high quality advice and service to our existing customer base, including the review of underwriting terms at renewal.

The main duties associated with the role will be:
• The assessment and underwriting of more complex new enquiries and existing risks
• The review of renewal terms for existing business
• Dealing with all forms of verbal and written enquiries from our agency network
• The development of strong business relationships with Sales colleagues and agencies
• The issue of renewal, mid term alterations and, occasionally, new business documentation
• Coaching and development of less experienced team members
• The provision of technical support to our networked agency group, Sales and Claims
• Occasional field visits
• The compliance with FSA guidelines and responsibilities
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who:
• Has a sound underwriting experience of effectively handling more complex enquiries
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Can work to tight deadlines
• Enjoys working in a team and possesses good organisational skills
• Has the confidence, drive and planning ability to work on their own without the need for continuous formal direction
• Has the enthusiasm necessary to deliver the highest possible levels of customer service
• Demonstrates the desire to learn, both through internal self development and through relevant professional insurance qualifications
