Trainee Buyer

TRAINEE BUYER

Due to sales growth and an internal re-organisation our well established and successful client are seeking an ambitious Trainee Buyer. The company is involved in the development, marketing and manufacture of toiletry and other personal care products and are based in Peterborough. Full training will be given for this role.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

• Part of the team responsible for ensuring that customer orders are delivered in a timely, accurate and efficient manner

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Processing purchase orders.
• Ensuring suppliers have received our orders and can meet our delivery and price requirements.
• Accurately update our systems for new products and components.
• Co-ordinate deliveries and freight from overseas suppliers.
• Approve supplier invoices and investigate any discrepancies.
• Assist with sourcing new suppliers and components.
• Prepare and circulate internal management reports

CANDIDATE: 

Skills / Attributes Required

• Good organisation and administrative skills with an excellent attention to detail.
• Numerate and literate with good IT skills.
• Confident and professional telephone manner.
• Able to communicate effectively with suppliers and team members.
• Work on own initiative as part of a team under tight timescales.
• Quickly react to changes in positive manner in our dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate will also

• Have good Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
• Be pro-active and responsive to change.
• Be willing invest your own time to develop your professional skills.

This role would suit a graduate looking to embark on a career in purchasing. Training towards an appropriate professional qualification will be offered to a candidate with the correct attributes.

REPORTING TO:

Senior Buyer

WORKING HOURS:

Full time - Monday to Thursday 9:00am to 5:15pm, Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm

SALARY: 

Starting salary £16,000 per annum.
