Organisation Description
A leading solicitor’s in West Yorkshire is recruiting a Technical Fee Earner to deliver a robust quality claims handling and litigation service to the companies clients, to generate fee income and to contribute to the general success of the department.
The successful candidate would be responsible for a portfolio of complex, aged or litigated Fast Track RTA compensation claims.
Benefits include
Basic salary: c£26, 000 depending upon experience. (This client will look at senior or more junior level candidates). Contributory pension, 25 days holiday rising with level of service, life assurance, health care, childcare vouchers, discounted gym membership/other services.
Job Description
Each fee earner would deal with approximately 230 cases, comprising of approximately 40% litigated cases.
Daily tasks would include;-
• Being responsible for a portfolio of complex claims, primarily Fast Track Personal Injury RTA claims.
• Provide excellent customer service to clients.
• Assess liability and quantum to include drafting schedules of special damages and assessing suitable awards for compensation for pain, suffering and loss of amenity, and other general damages.
• To research and obtain case law in support of quantum and liability issues.
• Negotiate with third parties to ensure the best settlement figures are received for the clients in a timely manner.
• Identify litigation opportunities and progress litigate PI claims within overall caseload, to include drafting Court proceedings, dealing with allocation, adhering to directions and timescales of the Court, preparing relevant documents for disclosure, submitting evidence and instructing counsel/other appropriate experts.
• Work with a task based system to ensure regular contact is maintained with all clients.
• To perform to a high level in a target orientated environment.
Person Specification
• A high level of technical litigation and claims handling experience.
• Unfortunately candidates without litigation claims experience will not be considered.
• Excellent customer service standards.
• The ability to deal with cases of complexity, causation arguments, fraud allegations and denials of liability with minimum supervision.
• Be incentivised to meet business targets.
• A proven track record of experience in PI claims handling.
• Knowledge and experience of handling a variety of aged, complex or litigate RTA injury claims.
• Organisation skills to a very high standard.
