This is a purchasing/supply chain role, however, the suitable applicant MUST hold a qualification in mechanical engineering or production engineering OR have an extremely strong background in mechanical engineering.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to the suppliers in trouble shooting any problems which may arise in the production process, to purchase supplies of materials, components and services to the appropriate quality, delivery and at the lowest cost consistent with meeting company customer requirements and inventory policy. You would also be responsible for preparing management performance reports of a monthly basis.
Tasks will include, but not be limited to, the following:
1. To initiate method improvement and cost saving projects in the Production areas and with suppliers in order to reduce / remove rework and scrap of purchased components.
2. To support Production / Sales Engineering in the preparation of Process Specifications and Routings
3. To assist and provide concise information to our suppliers for the manufacture of NPI and NPD jobs
4. To obtain written quotations for the purchase of raw materials/components and services from suitably approved suppliers, complete with all additional charges for delivery, test certification, batch charges and minimum order quantities. All quotations to be covered by suitable periods of validity.
5. To be responsible for the preparation and authorisation of purchase orders in line with Company policy on Surplus stocks and their issue to suppliers. To ensure that accurate computer records are maintained and up-to-date.
6. To liaise with Engineering and Production Engineering to ensure components are designed for manufacture, including the sub-contract requirements.
This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates with the aforementioned purchasing skills and qualifications to work for a burgeoning global leader in engineering manufacture. Initiative would be a highly prized quality for the ideal candidate as you would be required to source, develop and maintain relationships between suppliers and purchasing staff based on critical factors like price, delivery time and payment terms which would be left to your own initiative.
