JOB PURPOSE
The appointed analyst will be part of the Retail Division development team reporting
directly to the Retail Development Manager. They will work closely with Account
Managers, Support, Developers, QA and external clients throughout the entire
software development lifecycle from initial requirements gathering through to
implementation. A key part of the role will be the capture and successful conversion
of the user requirements into a workable business solution that can be developed
and implemented successfully. The appointed analyst will have the ability to
communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders at
all levels within an organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client facing; gathering business requirements for proposed system
development by means of conference calls, site visits, meetings and
workshops
Accurate capture and communication of user requirements
Creation and maintenance of analysis artefacts including documented user
requirements, project definition documents, functional specifications and
system specifications
Accurate estimation of the development effort required to deliver the
requirements
Active involvement in all stages of the project lifecycle to ensure that the
implemented solution meets the agreed user requirements
Effective communication and stakeholder management throughout the project
lifecycle
Coaching and mentoring of junior colleagues as and when appropriate
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Essential
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an analyst successfully delivering projects
to budget that successfully fulfil the agreed user requirements
Experience of both waterfall and agile development methodologies
Excellent communication skills with the ability to express technical problems
and solutions clearly, both orally and in writing.
Excellent time management, prioritisation and planning skills
Proactive and self-motivated
Able to work as part of a team or alone
Desirable
Knowledge and experience of analysis within the Retail Point of Sale domain
Knowledge and experience of analysis of OO development
Knowledge and experience of development using the Progress OpenEdge
toolset
Ability to play an active part in user discussions and, where appropriate, to
use tact and knowledge of relevant areas of computer applications or systems
software
Ability to assist with / perform system tests of the developed software
BENEFITS
Hours: 37 hours per week
9am-5.30pm Monday to Thursday.
One hour Lunch
9am-5.00pm Friday.
Salary: £29k -£35k depending on experience and fit
Pension Scheme (including PHI and Death in Service benefits)
22 Days holiday per year, rising to 27 after 5 years and 28 after 10 years
