Do you want to work for a growing, national charity that supports adults with learning disabilities to live life to the full?

Our client believes that every adult with a learning disability has the right to lead an active and fulfilling life and takes pride in supporting individuals to enjoy greater control and independence. They are a national charity providing high-quality personalised support to over 700 adults with learning disabilities and autism.

They are looking for part time and full time Support Workers to join their teams in the Fenland area. (March, Wisbech, Huntingdon, Peterborough and surrounding villages)

Although previous experience of working in the care sector or supporting someone would be an advantage, it is not essential as they provide comprehensive induction and training. You must however have a genuine interest in supporting people with learning disabilities and be able to clearly differentiate between care and support: the emphasis is on enabling people to do things for themselves, not doing things for them.

You would support individuals to plan what they wish to do each day, take them shopping, help them prepare meals and support them in a range of activities from cooking to bowling, swimming, going to the cinema, the local pub, holidays etc. This can be very rewarding, however as you would naturally expect there are inevitably some difficult and challenging situations. You need to be the sort of person that can take these in their stride, remain calm and be confident in dealing with them.

You will also need to be flexible and be able to work a shift pattern including early and late shifts and sleep ins. They can offer you:
• The opportunity to take on a rewarding and meaningful role
• Comprehensive training and the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification i.e. Qualifications and Credit Framework
• The start of a career in the care sector
• Generous benefits and enhancements
Is this the right sort of role for you? If so they would like to hear from you.

Candidates must provide eligibility of their right to work in the United Kingdom and the role is subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure Baring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position and any disclosure will be used fairly. If a disclosure reveals something of concern, matters will be discussed before the job offer is considered.
