Male Support Worker

Pay Rates: £6.25 per hour + 0.75 holiday pay

Duration: We are keen to employ staff that will be available on a long term basis (6 months min)

Our clients are a charitable organisation providing housing, support and employment services to members of the community with Learning Difficulties or Mental Health problems. They employ around 350 staff working with service users, to enable them to lead rich and fulfilling lives.

Service users live within their own homes or in shared accommodation in the Oakham area of Rutland, Leicestershire, because of this you must hold a full UK driving license and possess your own vehicle.

The Job:

The role requires supporting service users to maintain their independence within their own homes and the community. In your role as a support worker you will support them to integrate within the local community and feel more confident with day to day tasks. Support is person centred on the individuals needs; duties could include supporting with finding employment or college courses, shopping, cooking, hobbies or other activities to help achieve their goal. The organisation also promotes social inclusion within the community having created its own monthly newsletter, social inclusion meetings, regular support groups and trips. Some key working will be required. This role will be for approximately 35 hours per week, and could include weekends.

The role would offer great experience within the health and social care field with frequent multi-agency working; there are often opportunities to progress internally within the organisation, for example having to deputise for the manager.

The ideal candidates for this role will have worked within the care sector previously, be studying towards a related qualification or have a keen interest in working in this field. You will have excellent communication skills, a willingness to learn and looking to gain some valuable experience within health and social care field. You will also be competent in using the internet and range of computer programmes. You will also need to have a full driving license for this role. You will be available on a long-term flexible basis.

Any expenses incurred while on shift will be covered. Petrol is paid at 45p per mile. Expenses should be claimed on a monthly basis.
