Support Worker required

Our client is a 12 year old girl living in Coventry with an acquired brain injury due to a

road traffic accident in 2006. We currently require a part-time support worker to work in a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team in the client’s family home. You must be able to demonstrate a high degree of initiative as she has physical, cognitive, and language difficulties as a result of the accident. Our client currently attends a mainstream school with a statement of Special Education Needs.

As a Support Worker you would mainly assist with her physiotherapy exercises and help with homework after school. You would be expected to help reinforce and develop socially acceptable behavior, development of friends, hobbies and interests. This would be mostly planned and carried out independently as part of your role. We would be looking for new ideas and ways to improve our client’s quality of life. You would also be facilitating and supporting our client’s communication skills as directed by a Speech and Language therapist.

Previous experience of working with children or adults with an acquired brain injury would be advantageous although not essential. Other key responsibilities would include participating in training, keeping accurate records of client’s progress and to report any areas of concern to the family or Case Manager.
