Organisation Description

This is a very high profile and highly critical role within the business with direct access to the executives within the business.

The Supply Chain Controller provides technical and operational controllership leadership and guidance to both Finance and Supply Chain Operations leaders globally, and provides strategic operational controllership leadership in this complex manufacturing organization. This role has a direct report, Assistant Supply Chain Controller, assisting in execution of the team’s duties across the global Supply Chain.

Job Description

• As Global Supply Chain (GSC) policy-owner, create, update and implement effective GSC accounting policies, procedures and controls. These include fixed assets $700m, inventory $200m, across more than 30 entities
• Design and deliver training to entity Controllership, Supply Chain Finance and Operations teams ensuring policies and controls are operationalized globally
• Lead Controllership close processes including account reconciliations, account reconciliation audits and approving adjusting entries.
• Proactively identify and drive simplification by removing legacy accounting complexity, and leveraging effective processes
• Review and approve monthly the Intercompany Profit Elimination (ICP) balance of $100m. In collaboration with Inventory Finance Manager, ensure ICP calculations and accounting processes are effective and adhered to
• Lead audits and drive improvement in the quality of Supply Chain balance sheet account reconciliations globally
• Create and lead monthly and quarterly Operating Mechanisms with entities to drive strong, proactive Controllership and value added analysis in Fixed Assets, Assets Under Construction, and Inventory
• Identify early fixed asset & inventory impairment triggers, by building productive relationships and liaising closely with the Supply Chain leadership team and entity Finance Managers
• Provide thought-leadership on complex technical accounting issues, and produce high quality Technical Accounting Memos for areas of significant accounting judgment
• Prepare and present to corporate restructuring accounting schedules, proactively working with Supply Chain leaders to achieve significant productivity through Corporate funded programs
• Business partner to GM of Supply Chain and the leadership team, presenting Supply Chain Controllership dashboards and risk reviews to influence decision-making, mitigate risk, and support business growth
• Drive predictable and robust financial accounting in Supply Chain, together with identifying prospective, emerging risks at an early stage with mitigation plans
• Assess all Supply Chain financial risk or unusual accounting items, driving cross-functional efforts to identify, evaluate and where appropriate mitigate financial risk
• Communicate and present potential risks & opportunities to senior leadership teams as appropriate
• Report finance status and key metrics to the Supply Chain, Regional and Global Controllers
• Lead Manufacturing & Supply Chain aspects of annual pre-close, quarterly CFO risk reviews and monthly controllership reviews with key operations and financial management teams.

Person Specification

This a high profile position within a very large and complex business and requires a qualified accountant.

The ideal candidate will have proven strong technical accounting expertise, especially US GAAP and the communication, proactivity and people skills to business partner executives and business leaders.

Package, £65-75k plus car and bonus
