Strategic Project Accountant

Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager the Strategic Projects Analyst will be responsible for the provision of financial support to key strategic projects throughout the business. Candidates will have a proven financial grounding, previous experience of project delivery and an excellent grasp of commercial issues relevant to a fast moving retail environment The role will encompass financial appraisal, forecast and scenario modelling, monitoring of project expenditures and post implementation performance reporting and will have a high profile amongst the Exec and Senior Management team.

Main responsibilities:

• Provide high quality financial support and guidance to Strategic Project Managers and Executive Board sponsors based on commercial understanding of the business, the market and the project objectives and their growth drivers and key success criteria
• Act as a catalyst for change and challenge decision-making based on sound financial and commercial reasoning throughout the project lifecycles
• Perform investment appraisal analysis, scenario analysis and prepare project forecasts
• Monitor project spend and liaise with Financial Reporting team to ensure treatment of capital spend is appropriate
• Analyse and interpret project performance, highlighting and understanding issues and opportunities with appropriate recommendations
• Support the measurement of initiatives/ trials to assess performance against key success criteria
• Support in the preparation and delivery of performance update presentations to the Board and investment request documentation to the Investment Appraisal Committee

The successful candidate will be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a strong technical background, commercial awareness and experience in supporting delivery of strategic projects This position is offered on a 6 - 12 month contract. Salary range is £45k - £50k.
