My client, a successful international company are currently recruiting for a Strategic Buyer to join the team. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Purchasing Manager in the Fareham office.
Overall purpose / objective of the Strategic Buyer:
Develop and Implement Strategies for Commodities and Suppliers to achieve realistic long term relationships.
Key duties:
1. Negotiate Long Term Agreements incorporating flow down of customer requirements where necessary.
2. To manage Suppliers to achieve improvements in Cost, Quality and Delivery in accordance with business KPI’s.
3. To develop and maintain Programme Life Cycle Management Plans for all products.
4. Participate in Inventory reduction activities, such as implementation of Buffer and Consignment stocks.
5. Selection and Management of Suppliers in accordance with Group processes.
6. Management of Product costs throughout the Product lifecycle.
7. Take part in Supplier Improvement activities as required.
8. Risk Management of Key Suppliers utilising Group tools.
9. To maintain ERP system, ensuring MRP purchasing-related data is accurate.
10. To attend meetings as required.
To be considered for this role you will need to have previous experience of purchasing electro-mechanical goods and working within a sub-contract environment. You will also need to have an in-depth knowledge of MRP/ERP systems. You will need to be CIPS qualified or have extensive buying experience within an electo-mechanical environement.
