Job Description
SQL Server DBA required initially on a 3 month contract to be based in County Durham with a good chance of extensions.
You will undertake tasks to cover routine maintenance and administration of both SQL Server and ideally Oracle databases. Duties include database installation and monitoring. Monitoring of background processes, errors and alerts in logs and trace files, statistics gathering and evaluations, performance tuning and optimization, patching, backup and recovery, incident response and project tasks such as upgrades, migrations, creation and refreshing of test/development environments.
You should have experience of MS SQL Server versions 2005/2008 and above. Experience of Oracle database versions 10g and 11g particularly on Linux/Solaris would be a big advantage. Oracle Applications Server, Weblogic and E-Business suite would be desirable. Naturally relevant accreditations such as OCP and MCDBA would be a bonus.
