Our engineering team currently has a requirement for an experienced Software Technician. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of software systems for existing and new plant and support the implementation of projects across the Littleborough site.
You will also be accountable for:
- Coordinating software design (PLC and SCADA) on assigned projects working closing with the project engineers
- Support the project engineers on assigned projects from concept development through design, purchasing, installation and debugging.
- Manage factory based software systems for the Littleborough site, updating software, document software changes, and regular backups of the software.
- Recommend technical and procedural methods for improving existing equipment, minimising raw materials, utilities, and facilities in the manufacturing departments.
- Use line monitoring, fault finding and problem solving systems/techniques in order to maximise utilisation of all company plant and equipment by minimising down time through scheduled maintenance.
- Keep abreast of technical developments that have possible application to the manufacturing process.
- Act as project leader on special projects as assigned.
- Assists other engineers, designers, mechanical and electrical support people in developing concepts for new and existing equipment.
- Work with vendors and new equipment suppliers to obtain information on their capabilities and purchase parts or equipment, as required.
- Continuously assess company plant and equipment
- Coordinate with purchasing and accounting for CAAP Project completion.
- Work and observe safety, complying with the obligations under Health and Safety regulations.
- Assist in basic PLC training for the site Engineering teams.
- Be responsible for ensuring Site Electrical compliance is adhered too, and relevant systems maintained
We are therefore looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
- ONC/HNC or demonstrable related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have PLC diagnostic and programming skills, inclusive of Allen Bradley, S5, S7, Mitsubishi
- Must have a working knowledge of HMI SCADA and associated programming languages, inclusive of VB, VBA
- Proficient in auto CAD, word processing, spread sheets.
- Experience in food industry or related industries
