Our client a multi-national and highly respected technology solutions company specialising in enterprise level solutions for major FTSE 500 type businesses.

They seek a Software Support Engineer ( Java, XML, SQL Server, Oracle, TCP/IP ), fluent in reading and writing Java and only applicants that are happy working in a challenging and varied software support team.

The successful Software Support Engineer ( Java, XML, SQL Server, Oracle, TCP/IP ) will possess excellent experience troubleshooting customer reported problems, ideally some experience supporting Java, J2EE or .NET type applications. THIS IS NOT A DEVELOPMENT ROLE.

This Software Support Engineer ( Java, XML, SQL Server, Oracle, TCP/IP ) role will involve:

- Supporting enterprise software applications (written in Java, OO, C++ or .NET).
- Solving technically complex problems by analyzing, troubleshooting, simulating and debugging product related problems
- Becoming a product expert

Essential for this Software Support Engineer ( Java, XML, SQL Server, Oracle, TCP/IP ) role is the following:

- Fluency in reading and writing Java.
- Programming and / or Support experience in Java or J2EE.
- Willingness to work in a software support, application support type role.
- Experience of troubleshooting, fault-finding and debugging.
- Experience of any Web services (i.e. Websphere, Weblogic, Tomcat or Jboss).
- Good English verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.

Nice to have (but not essential) is any from:

- XML, XPATH, SOAP or HTTP
- Practical experience with Oracle or SQL Server.
- Experience of Networking (i.e. TCP/IP).
- C++ or .NET, C#
