Main Responsibilities and Duties of the Post
1. To carry a caseload as allocated by the Team Manager and within the priorities of the Children and Families Division
2. To maintain an up-to-date knowledge and awareness of relevant legislation, guidance and Departmental policies and procedures and to work within these.
3. To co-operate with administrator colleagues in undertaking appropriate administrative tasks and also on allocated cases, to ensure that all necessary administrative tasks are completed.
4. To carry out all tasks in accordance with the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policies.
5. To keep file records up-to-date and comply with the Department’s recording guidelines.
6. To prepare appropriately detailed reports in respect of assessments, care plans, court proceedings, adoption and fostering procedures etc.
7. To comply with the Department’s policy and procedures on race record keeping.
8. To maintain high standards of professional practice, working at all times in the best interests of children, ensuring that there are clear assessments and up to date care plans in place on all allocated cases.
9. To work in partnership with children and parents maintaining an open records policy.
10. To recommend financial payments in respect of service users and carers to Senior Managers where appropriate, and within Departmental policies and procedures.
11. To work with appropriate information technology in order to maintain effective administrative systems and efficient monitoring of work.
12. To maintain records for workload management purposes.
13. To undertake training as required at the direction of the Team Manager.
14. To act as a joint interviewer under the Memorandum of Good Practice when required, and after completing appropriate training.
15. To attend meetings, including supervision sessions, as required.
16. To liaise and share information with other agencies as appropriate.
