Primary Responsibilities
Analyse samples in accordance with appropriate analytical test procedures and within customer requirements and record results on appropriate LIMS IT system , e.g. CCLAS
Perform SQC and Round Robin analysis ensuring any failures are recorded and investigated with appropriate action taken
Reporting to Shift Supervisor/Duty Manager
Specific responsibilities
Analyses samples in accordance with appropriate analytical test procedures
Ensure samples are processed within turnaround times agreed with both our internal and external Customers.
Perform SQC analysis ensuring any failures are recorded and investigated with appropriate action taken
Participate, when required, in Round Robin Proficiency testing schemes
Assist shift supervisor with shift handover, helping identify and prioritise analysis to previous/next Shift Supervisor.
Help identify and support any training needs to build relevant skills and ensure individual Training Records /Training Matrix are kept up to date.
Promptly inform supervisory team if a problem with equipment or method occurs so that immediate actions can be taken to remedy the problems and return equipment to full service.
Promote and develop a commitment to continuous improvement in all areas of the laboratories through adherence with SGS’s quality systems, following up audits and CAPRs/NIRs by completing actions on time.
Ensure effective teamwork between Inspection and Laboratory teams to ensure an effective Quality and Quantity service is provided to the customer.

Experience Essential
• Previous experience of working in a testing laboratory, meeting exacting process and client demands.
Desirable
• Experience in a service industry related to the petro-chemical industry.
• Experience of working within a UKAS laboratory
Skills & Knowledge Essential
• Knowledge of analytical testing activities
• Able to organise and prioritise workload
• Good communication skills - both verbal and written.
• Able to adopt a flexible approach to work and react effectively to a rapidly changing environment.
• Able to work under own initiative and with a high degree of autonomy & maturity.
• Computer literate showing an ability to use LIMS IT systems, e.g. CCLAS
Desirable
• Experience of testing within the petro-chemical industry.
• Sound working knowledge of the prevailing business activities within OGC.
• Knowledge of IT systems, particularly MS Office applications.
Qualifications
Essential
• GCSE Science/Mathematics/English or equivalent
• Driving License
Desirable
• First degree or equivalent - i.e. BSc/HNC.
