Our client is a leading international engineering support services provider to both public and private sector industries across USA and Europe.
Due to international expansion our client is now looking for SHEQS Advisor (Mining and Construction) who would be responsible to promote positive Cultural and Behavioural change through personal example.
Job Description
Main Responsibilities:
• To implement, maintain, and enhance SHEQS audit processes, standards, polices and procedures within the framework of current in country legislation, ISO and Risk Specific according to the work activities and area/s to support our clients Support Division and Divisional objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinating the implementation risk specific systems/program/s of dynamic risk identification and risk evaluation in accordance with SHEQS requirement and within the framework of integrated risk management
• Monitor the SHEQS service levels to support line managers and continuously align the divisional service/s requirements to meet legal requirements with the view to developing best practice
• Ensuring that local management team in the US & Canada are trained, competent and operate effectively in order to implement and enhance SHEQS audits and processes (international standards and accreditation)
• Ensuring that there is organizational development of SHEQS staff in order to ensure operational and divisional capacity for the purposes of business continuity
• Providing SHEQS and specifically Safety & Health support for Operational Management
• Facilitating multi disciplinary and specialist SHEQS workgroups to formulate Divisional operational risk specific audits, risk assessments and procedures
• Providing Divisional and Operational direction in order to ensure that SHEQS risks are managed and that all risk exposures are treated at operational level, reported at Divisional level, thereby encouraging improvement in the risk control performance
• Advising the procurement department in the selection and placement of service providers and consultants in order to minimize the Divisional legal and litigating risks
• Ensure operational knowledge, application and practices in line with corporate requirements
Person Specification
Requirements:
• High School Degree or equivalent
• 5-10 years SHEQ experience in the quarry, mining or construction industry
• MSHA – a detailed working knowledge of MHSA is a must
• NEBOSH General Certificate or US or Canadian equivalent
• Available for international travel for extended periods with no restrictions
• No restrictions to applying for or obtaining a US or Canadian Visa.
• Working knowledge of the following disciplines required:
o Working knowledge of H&S legislation
o CDM 2007 Regulations
o OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 & ISO 9001/2
o MSHA Regulations (pt 46, 48 bottom surface and underground)
o OSHA Regulations
Preferred Experience:
• Experience within the International Mining and Construction industry
• Experience with International Health and Safety
• NEBOSH Diploma or BSC Diploma in H&S Management or US or Canadian equivalent
• French Language Skills
