Capita is recruiting for a Service Support Technician/Engineer who has experience in configuring and supporting Windows Server and SQL Server 2008. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a structured ITIL environment and also work with VMWare within the financial services sector. It is a friendly team and we are looking for someone that is passionate about service support, Windows Server and SQL Server 2008.
On a day to day basis you will be delivering and responsible for providing technical skills and knowledge across all of our Managed Service applications and environments. This will include incident resolution; problem investigation, change assessments and service release deployments issued from our standard ITIL based processes.
The role will mainly require liaising directly with other internal teams but some client contact will also be required. All of our Managed Services are hosted offsite so most work will be operating system, application and database level and will be carried out remotely. There will be a small amount of local IT server, desktop, peripheral and infrastructure support required covering other members of the team on occasion.
Essential:
The ideal candidate must have the following;
- Experience of configuring and supporting Windows Server and SQL Server 2008.
- Previous experience in a customer facing environment or remote support
- Basic understanding of networking and administration
The following skills would be advantageous but are not essential;
- Experience of administering or using VMWare v4 or later
- Knowledge of ITIL v3 and ITIL Incident, Problem, Release & Change Management Activities
- Knowledge of Financial Services
The requirement is to cover the hours of 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday but you will also be expected to be included in out of hour’s rota which covers our services 24/7, 365 days per year.
