Senior Systems Engineer - Avionics, Aerospace, Defence.

HND/Degree  in systems engineering, mathematics, physics or another engineering discipline with extensive relevant experience or degree in systems engineering, mathematics, physics or another engineering discipline with substantial relevant experience Awareness of work of and involvement with INCOSE.

Knowledge of current Systems Engineering standards and techniques.

Knowledge of avionics or defence industry programme life cycles Knowledge of SEI CMMi.

Knowledge of the product development lifecycle from customer need to disposal.

Experience of visiting customers on site to negotiate technical issues.

Ability to lead and manage customers during systems design reviews and audits.

Time management and planning

Ability to compile estimates and task lists with estimated resource requirements (people and equipment).

Experience of using metrics to present project status.

Experience of capturing system requirements and of validating and verifying that the system that has been produced as a result meets the original specification Disciplined and rigorous approach to requirements management and ability to ask challenging questions about the requirements and architecture of the system at each level of the hierarchy.

Experience of facilitating trade-offs between hardware and software implementations and deriving discipline specific requirements.

Ability to create a range of alternative interdisciplinary design concepts, perform trade analyses to determine preferred solutions.

Ability to write integration and verification plans, define detailed test procedures and demonstrate effective management of systems verification activities.

Experience of working with customers, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, quality, manufacturing and other company departments.

Experience of negotiating and agreeing a specification Aircraft electronic equipment design experience.

Knowledge of how different aircraft systems interface with each other and how they use the information .

Knowledge of aircraft certification requirements Experience of working with safety, availability, reliability and maintainability analyses.

Experience of mathematical and graphical modelling.

Experience of leading formal decision analysis and resolution.

Understanding of human factors requirements Experience of using Reqtify, DOORS or a similar requirements management tool.

Overall Purpose/Objectives of Role - Senior Systems Engineer.

  1. Develop and implement structured engineering solutions to meet programme requirements across the whole development lifecycle in accordance with customer requirements, legislation, human factors and business needs.
  2. Be responsible for the control of own work and that of any allocated resource to meet agreed technical, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
