Macildowie are currently working in partnership with Boots Contract Manufacturing (BCM) to recruit a Senior Procurement Manager to lead the procurement strategy predominantly for the UK site. BCM has been at the forefront of developing and manufacturing health, beauty and pharmacy products for over 100 years. BCM has manufacturing sites in three countries, Nottingham UK, Dietzenbach Germany, Vitre France and an assembly plant in Walbrzych Poland. Aswell as manufacturing a wide range of quality products for Boots, BCM also has a respected portfolio of third party Bluechip customers including some of the most successful health and beauty brands in the UK. In total, BCM produce over 5,000 finished products and manufactures over 350 million units every year

The Role:

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team accountable for leading your and other areas of the business, driving the strategy and procurement agenda across the business, whilst identifying business opportunities which will positively impact the organisation and its continued growth & success.

You will be required to:

• Lead, develop, own and take personal responsibility for category strategies for a portfolio of products and services with an annual spend of circa £ 200m per year
• Support BCM’s future strategy whilst providing professional expertise and commercial focus to the BCM businesses
• Lead, develop and imbed a cross-functional and cross-factory category management team
• Project manage work-streams and lead complex projects from concept through to completion
• Lead and undertake complex, high value strategic sourcing activities
• Build effective relationships with Executive level stakeholders
• Identify value creation opportunities for BCM and build compelling business cases that ensure senior stakeholder support
• Lead negotiations, selection and contracting of business with suppliers where the annualised spend is >£250,000
• Develop and manage new and existing suppliers of products and services to ensure performance of the contracts and to drive maximum value from these relationships
• Ensure supply base can successfully implement up to 700 New Product Introductions each year

The Person:

• You will already be an inspirational leader of change within a large manufacturing business, providing direction, coaching, target setting and performance management for a team of people
• Ability to identify Lean Manufacturing opportunities and to implement Lean principles in practice
• People recognise you as a leader, who develops and delivers strategic change
• Commercially astute, with great interpersonal savvy
• Stakeholder management experience at executive level
• Track record of delivery at strategic and operational levels within the business
• Able to make decisions and to operate with genuine autonomy
• Ability to challenge the status quo with fresh ways of thinking
• Passion for simplifying processes and driving out inefficiencies
• Commercially driven with a desire to drive better value
• Graduate or very definitely of graduate calibre
