Senior Core Engineer - Dublin

Our client, a major mobile telecoms operator, now has a requirement for a Senior Core Engineer (Principal level) who will work within its Dublin-based Core Network Engineering team with responsibility for planning, performance management and designing of mainly Ericsson node-based core circuit & packet networks.

This is seen as an 11 month fixed term contract position that may become a permanent position - or alternatively this role may be available if desired as a daily rate contract for the right candidate.

Main Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the architecture team to define & implement annual technology plans.

• Work with our clients partners and vendors to deliver core network-related projects into the live network.
• Design, verification and implementation of Core-related projects for deployment into the live network.
• Responsibility for the design and dimensioning of the Core including DPI solution within the network.
• Identification and resolution of performance issues through trending and monitoring on the Core network using tools such as Business Objects.
• Guide & drive initiatives on ensuring availability and security of the Core network
• Be flexible if required to perform post upgrade monitoring or support for project delivery when required outside of core business hours.

Skills Requirements:

• 5 years or more experience and knowledge of design, engineering, monitoring, implementation capabilities across Ericsson core nodes - ideally both packet and circuit - i.e. design and/or operations skills around supporting Ericsson GGSN, SGSN, HLR, MGW, MSC etc.
• Experience of 3G, 2G, GPRS and wireless internet technology. Knowledge of LTE a distinct advantage
• Knowledge & experience of DPI platforms
• Good knowledge of some or all of the following protocols/functions: TCP/IP, Radius, MPLS, WLAN, SS7, GSM, Diameter.
• Ability to create process documentation

• Works on own initiative & takes an innovative approach to working
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Comfortable interacting with engineers, senior-management, customers and peers
