Purpose

The jobholder will support the business in the day to day running of the operational SAP business systems by identifying solutions for problems, improvement and development.  He/she will identify training needs for SAP users.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Develop and provide analysis of SAP and business process problems and opportunities.  Discuss recommendations with the Business Process Owners.  Implement changes to the system that have a global or regional impact.
  • Produce clear and concise design and scoping documents for minor developments, projects and sub-projects in the application area, including changes to the business processes.
  • Act as a gatekeeper for all regional developments prior to them being transported to Production environment.
  • Evaluate, handle and resolve the regional and global business problems, concerning SAP R/3 functionality.
  • Design detailed business and, wherever possible, technical specifications to programming and other resources, both in house and 3rd party. 
  • Identify training needs for the SAP users.  Plan and conduct training where needed. 
  • Ensure proactive investigation and communication to the business about improvements and developments within SAP R/3.
  • Provide analysis of regional SAP and business processes problems and recommend application solutions.  Apply local configuration changes to development environment, and coordinate testing efforts by other regions.   Ensure a high quality business system.
  • Keep track of all regional tasks and changes to SAP and the Business Process Procedures (BPP).

Requirements

  • Detailed SAP R/3 knowledge of configuration, settings and functional use, within functional area; detailed SAP R/3 knowledge within at least one other area;
  • Detailed business knowledge within own functional area;
  • Ability to train others;
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to understand complex business problems and translate them into application solutions
  • Ability to assess and correct application problems
  • Ability to recognize global implications of changes
