Roadside Technician

If you are self-motivated, flexible, an excellent communicator and enjoy working outdoors, why not consider becoming a Roadside Technician or as they are often known an AA Patrol.  Although working on your own, you do have the support of colleagues, trainers and a technical helpdesk plus the security of working for the Number One breakdown organisation.

Job Purpose

  • To undertake a high standard of effective and safe diagnosis on members’ vehicles.
  • Maintain a high standard of driving and courtesy at all times.
  • Maintain a high standard of courtesy and effectiveness in dealing with members.
  • To provide excellent customer care and service.
  • Be fully conversant with the operation of all vehicles and equipment issued, (technical helpdesk and diagnostic equipment provided)
  • Maintain accurate administrative records necessary to ensure satisfactory job performance.
  • To build and maintain good relationships with all other colleagues.
  • Promote and maximise AA services, including sales of AA membership to new members (commission paid).

Requirements

  • City and Guilds part 1 & 2 motor vehicle craft studies or equivalent NVQ level 3
  • An in depth practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical workings of a wide range of motor vehicles.
  • Significant recent and relevant experience in motor vehicle mechanical repair or in engineering.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • To work annualised hours (including shift working, weekends and bank holidays)
  • Must maintain driving licence covering categories B + E.
  • Ability to adapt positively to change.

Additional Information

  • Shift working, including weekends and bank holidays,  option to select Christmas day off from leave entitlement.
  • Working at the roadside in all weathers and on all types of roads, including motorways.
  • Working without direct supervision.
  • Vehicle and uniform is provided. NB vehicle must be parked at or within 15 mins of home address
