Atkins Highway Services, a part of our Highways & Transportation business, operates, maintains and improves the road network. We are currently providing around £160m of combined network management, design and contracting services for our clients, and employing over 1,200 people who deliver frontline operational work as well as design, project management and other vital office-based services.
The Area 6 MAC has been in operation since 2008 and the Spooner Row Depot, near Attleborough, is a key base for carrying out a full range of highway maintenance and improvement activities for the Highway Agency.
We are looking for a person to work as part of a gang of Road Operatives, reporting to the Agent. Highway experience and HGV class 2 licence are essential for the role. The position requires operatives to work a regular day/night shift pattern and to be on weekly standby on a rota basis. Operatives also undergo regular training, so commitment towards successful completion is required of the successful candidate as well as a flexible and willing attitude to working within a team.

Requirements
· Willing to work both night and days shifts and unsociable hours as required,
· Be available for out of hours emergency call outs, on a rota basis
· Work in all weathers
· Previous experience of highway maintenance: traffic management, winter maintenance and associated ground works - asphalt laying, kerb laying, barrier repair drainage or excavation
AND/OR UK driving licence - Class 2 HGV
· Ability to complete associated paperwork
· Practical ability to understand use of relevant operational equipment
· Ability to read and interpret safety and ISO requirements and specifications
Desirable
· NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Construction and Highways Maintenance
· Certification to operate plant / equipment
· Knowledge or experience of NRSWA (New roads and street works act)
· Holder of CSCS card
