MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

Acting under the direction of the Power Station Manager working staggered weeks on days, providing management and practical application of fault finding, repair and maintenance associated to Control & Instrumentation/electrical/mechanical systems and equipment at a modern Biomass Power Plant.

Controls & Instrumentation Technician

Overview

Management and practical application of fault finding, repair and maintenance associated to Control & Instrumentation systems and equipment at a modern Biomass Power Plant ensuring that safe, effective C&I maintenance, and timely diagnosis, execution and repair of plant and equipment is provided throughout the plant

Key Responsibilities and areas of desirable experience:
  • Responsible for C&I maintenance procedures being carried out in accordance with the Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental Management procedures for the plant
  • Diagnosing faults and ensuring the carrying out of effective repairs, working on own initiative and without supervision when on callout duty.
  • Working knowledge of preventative maintenance/defect repair/ interrogation on: DCS/ SCADA, PLCs, Analogue & Digital Instrumentation and Transducers, Emissions Monitoring and other equipment related to the site.
  • Full understanding of P&IDs and Loop Checking and can read Electrical Drawings
  • Some understanding & ability to read Mechanical/Hydraulic/Pneumatic diagrams
  • Must be able to demonstrate competence in the use of workshop tools and basic C&I test equipment
  • Familiarity with Instrumentation calibration routines, both Digital and Analogue and ability to use calibration tools - 4 to 20mA and Druck, etc.
  • Can manage the Instrument Calibration Schedule, to ensure all instruments are calibrated in accordance with the Schedule and any problems reported to the Assistant Plant Manager.
    · To ensure that adequate surveys and inspections of plant and equipment are carried out and take corrective action as required by Company Procedures
  • Manage the upkeep of all records associated to the Control & Instrumentation Maintenance of plant and equipment. This will include the Computerised Maintenance Management System and all Statutory Examination records
    · Under the direction of the Assistant Plant Manager, ensure defects and plant problems are dealt with in the best possible manner to minimise plant down time
    · Inspection and supervision of work carried out by contractors to ensure that the work meets the required standards.
  • Other duties as required by the Assistant Plant Manager
