Purpose built in 1995, Silverpoint Court occupies a strategic and elegant position which looks down on the picturesque Thames estuary and Canvey's bustling fishing community. Both stylishly decorated lounges offer panoramic views of the Essex coastline, Hadleigh castle and Old Leigh. Silverpoint Court provides care and accommodation to thirty six older people.
Responsible and Accountable to the Director of Operations
MAIN OBJECTIVES:
- To be responsible for the well being, i.e. the physical, emotional and social needs of the people who use our services, in a caring, kind and respectful manner, preserving dignity and self-respect at all times.
- To fulfil the expectation of Nellsar Ltd for all employees to give their personal best and strive for continuous improvement to ensure that the highest standards of care and service are delivered to all people that use our service.
- To bear in mind the overall objectives of the Care Home, namely that people who use our services will be encouraged to maintain independence and choice in a homely environment which promotes excellent customer relationships.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) To enable people who use our services to live in a manner similar to their usual home life.
b) To ensure that high standards of resident care are maintained at all times.
c) To be responsible for the internal organisation and management of the Home.
d) To maintain the individual’s independence, choice and privacy at all times.
e) To promote and maintain excellent communications with all internal and external agencies.
Personal Care of Residents:
- To ensure all prospective residents have a thorough pre admission assessment completed, by a skilled and experienced individual, and that the Home is able to meet the residents needs prior to admission.
- To ensure people who use our services receive the highest standards of person centred care appropriate to their assessed needs.
- To ensure care plans are completed for all people who use our services, regularly reviewed and audited.
- To act as expert in the clinical field for care staff.
- To act in accordance with the GSCC Code of Conduct, and other National Guidelines and Standards, in the case of a Nursing Home this will include all NMC Guidelines.
- To promote and foster good relationships with people who use our services and their families.
Medication
- To ensure there is a strict control of recording, ordering and the return of medication to the Pharmacy in accordance with company policies and national guidelines. In the case of a Nursing Home this will also include implementation of NMC Guidelines.
- To audit MARRS sheets, and administration practices, and develop action plans following the audits.
- To report all medication incident/errors immediately to the GP or other Health Professional, and complete a thorough investigation.
Health and Safety
- To ensure maintenance of a safe and healthy working environment by adherence to Health and Safety and Welfare policies, procedures and regulations.
- To maintain Infection Control procedures and monitor that these are adhered to at all times.
- To implement and maintain COSHH regulations are adhered to for storage and use of chemicals.
- To ensure all accidents and incidents are documented, maintaining RIDDOR reporting requirements as requested.
Management
- To assume overall responsibility for the co-ordination of catering, cleaning, laundry, stock control, waste disposal and maintenance of the Home.
- To deploy staff efficiently in relation to care duties to be covered.
- To ensure compliance with CQC and all other statutory requirements.
- To provide guidance and training to all staff.
- To provide support and direction for all staff.
- To undertake on-call requirements as agreed.
- To undertake meetings with relatives and people who use our services, recording minutes.
Training
- To recruit staff in accordance with company policies.
- To maintain personnel files in accordance with Nellsar policies.
- To arrange orientation and induction programmes for all new staff.
- To carry out appraisals of staff identifying training needs, and undertake supervision sessions.
- To hold staff meetings, and document minutes.
