Our client is a large Tier 1 automotive company with an excellent reputation for it’s Continuous Improvement practises and commitment to process improvement in terms of quality and efficiency.

THE PROJECT ENGINEER

3 MONTH CONTRACT for a skilled and experienced Tier 1 automotive project/ manufacturing engineer for a Telford based company.

Tasked with understanding and realising production engineering strategic goals and objectives; to deliver and improve products and processes through the use of process flow, P-FMEA tools and effectively manage change.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To define the correct level of process control through the use of Process Flow, P-FMEA, Control Plans and SQA net and confirm the process through the analysis of capability studies.
  • To define long term plans and actions to reduce leak and scrap ratios benchmarking best practice, including component tolerance analysis.
  • To ensure the management of new tooling introduction through timing and ISIR control.
  • To perform annual P-FMEA reviews and review against each quality concern.
  • Cost
  • Based on capacity and improvement plans to define and justify business case approval including investment plans.
  • Analyse and compare in house manufacture to outsourcing to ensure cost competitiveness.
  • Define long term Kaizen plan and monitor achievement.
  • To identify and implement net time improvement plans and confirm work configuration.
  • To assess the impact of ECI / PCI to process and implement changes ensuring the relevant test requirements are met.
  • To project manage the introduction of new materials / suppliers.
  • To estimate in detail process times and associated expenses.
  • To define and implement energy and expense reduction plans in manufacturing.
  • Safety & Environment
  • To ensure all machines are procured and installed within company procedures and EU Legislation.
  • Complete all appropriate risk assessments for all new / modified equipment.
  • Ensure effective management and control of designated contractors whilst on site.
  • Ensure company is aware of plans through continuous delivery of appropriate communications at all levels across the business.

      THE SUCCESSFUL PROJECT ENGINEER

  • Degree / HND in relevant discipline (ideally Engineering based) or Minimum 5 years Production Engineering experience.
  • Tier 1 Automotive experience
  • Experience of Process design and Production line concept design.
  • Thorough understanding of project management tools.
  • Finite capacity planning and material flow analysis.
  • Working knowledge of relevant H&S Legislation (Machinery Directive, PUWER, British Standards etc).
