Organisation Description

An expanding firm is seeking an experienced Professional Indemnity Claims Handler to join their newly established office in Bristol. 

As a professional indemnity insurance claims handler, you will deal with every aspect of an insurance claim on behalf of Insurer clients.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Dealing with claims made against a range of professions.
2. Considering policy coverage, whether the Insured has a liability, issues of contributory negligence, assessing the quantum of claims and potential recoveries.
3. Setting Maximum Potential Loss and Probable Maximum Loss figures.
4. Setting reserves.
5. Drafting Letters of Response that are compliant with the Professional Negligence Pre-action Protocol.
6. Considering and advising insurers on policy coverage issues.
7. Instructing counsel to provide advice.
8. Instructing experts to provide reports.
9. Negotiating settlement of claims.
10. Appointing, controlling and directing solicitors from underwriters’ panel to investigate claims and report.
11. Meeting with Insured firms, insurers, brokers and/or the solicitors appointed from underwriters’ panel to discuss how claims can best be dealt with.
12. Assisting the insured resolve circumstances that may lead to claims.
13. Updating the online claims handling system as claims progress.
14. Attending meetings with Insurers and Brokers and generally interacting with them on a business and social level.
15. To contribute to the commercial success of the Claims Department, by efficiently and cost effectively dealing with allocated caseload

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have:

-  Previous experience handling Professional Indemnity claims.
