Our client is an automotive component manufacturer of Body-in-White (BIW) components and sunroof assemblies
The main objective of the wrole will be to formulate efficient work plans for the Press / Weld Department and optimising manufacturing performance

Job Description

• Ensuring that the requirements of the plan are understood and that all resources - coil, blanks, etc. are delivered in line with job requirements whilst minimizing on site stock by ensuring relevant planning details and reports are available as required.
• Complete all data input accurately and efficiently.
• Understand, and report on capacity planning issues and forward load requirements.
• Understand production reporting system and challenge non conformance.
• Clearly define scheduling requirements throughout manufacturing.
• Ensure all internal documents and communications conform to established procedures.
• Organising and manage the control of raw materials to the press shop ensuring that manufacturing departments are efficiently planned to minimize number of machine set ups, whilst adhering to agreed delivery dates without the need for additional transportation costs.
• Liaise with internal and external personnel to ensure customer deliveries are achieved.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external personnel, communicating to facilitate cost effective and efficient working. 
• Minimise changeovers within Weld departments to maximise efficiency.
• Control Weld plan, react and inform Weld of any abnormalities.
• To assist Inventory & Planning Manager with ad hoc projects as necessary
• Ensure 5S principle are adhered to
• Identify and support continuous improvement

Person Specification

• Experience of production planning in a first tier automotive environment, ideally in a low mix/ high volume environment
• Customer orientated, self-starter with extensive knowledge of modern lean manufacturing techniques and their application in the supply chain
• Experience of dealing with ERP system. Must have an aptitude for figure work and be computer literate.
• Experience and capability to ensure accuracy and timely reporting of existing KPI’s, and to further develop where required.
• Candidates must also be able to demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills and have the confidence to establish good working relationships with both customers, suppliers and on site personnel.
• Effective communication with the Production Manager and Material Services department on any deviations or delays to the plan is also a key part of the role.
• Candidate will be conscientious, with excellent organizational and IT skills, with the ability to manage the workflow through the operation to ensure that the required level of service and delivery expectations are achieved.
